Crochet Chunky Bedrunner

With arctic blast in our midst, I had to take my fur babies favorite fur blanket from the foot of the bed to keep warm. Needless to say, he was not pleased. To resolve the issue, I made this crochet chunky bed runner. Thick, soft and warm, he seems to be not so discontent and he really loves the pom poms.

Made from Lion Brand AR Workshop yarn in the color of willow. I have fallen in love with this chunky jumbo yarn.

Hope you enjoy!

Collage Postcard

I really enjoy repurposing and recycling. I am sure a lot of you get junk mail/advertisements. These are made from the advertisements that come in the mail that are a cardstock type of material. I cut them down to postcard and gift tag size and collage with pages from books and stickers that I have acquired.

Crocheting around the edge gives it the speacial touch.

Hope you enjoy!

Watercolor Apple

I attended a watercolor painting class a few years back and found it to be relaxing even though I am really not very talented with painting. There are moments when I create something that is worthy.

I was caught up in a storm a few weeks back while dropping unwanted items at the thrift store and found it impossible to drive, so I spent a few hours in the thrift store until the storm passed.

Thinking that I had found the perfect book to cut into and create collage postcard, I returned home and just couldn’t cut into it. Instead I decided I would use it to practice my watercolor painting.

I am sure on my future adventures I will find another dictionary that I can cut into but for now, this one was just too colorful to take the scissors to.

Collage Spring/Easter Card

I enjoy recycling my mail and magazines and what better way to accomplish this then with collage work.

I never realized ripping up paper can be so therapeutic and of course I had to add a crochet edging.

A great way to express yourself and design your own cards!

Little Leaf Chunky Hot Pad

Just love the texture of this stitch work. Do you have a favorite stitch that you like to work with?

I found this in a vintage crochet book and have used it over and over again throughout the years. It is a simple stitch and makes a great project to work on while relaxing and catching up on movies.

Mid-Century

Found the perfect mid-century sofa/daybed for the living room. Three years of searching to find something that I felt could hold the test of time and express my style.

Looking forward to designing more crochet pillows and throws for this lovely piece.

Hopefully, by the end of the this year, I will have enough inventory of crochet patterns to feel comfortable enough to list.

Wool Dryer Balls

I spend the first couple of months of the new year in hibernation enjoying all those comfort foods and hygge lifestyle.

One of my favorite crafts during that time is making dyer balls and scenting them with my favorite essential oils.

So easy to make. I use hobbii snowstorm 100% wool. One skein makes one ball. Then I use a nylon ankle sock to hold three of the yarn balls and wash them three times in the washing machine with my regular laundry in hot water.

Pop them in the dryer after that and once dried add 3-4 drops of your favorite essential oil and you will be ready for your next drying load.

New Year Journal

I hope everyone’s New Year is a blessed one.

I spend my new year’s eve relaxing from all the festivities and preparing my new year goals.

I came across the 52 list project by Moorea Seal and just had to have it. With as busy as I am, it is perfect for weekly journaling and creative with collage as well. I am very inspired by the weekly list and will be sharing a few of the list with my collage throughout the year.

Do you journal? I picked it up in High School with a class that I took called Facts and Feelings, and haven’t stopped since. It is just a great way for me to get insight to the things that make me happy and embracing the changes that I go through periodically and make adjustments to life that are most fulfilling to me.

Toe-Tally Easy Crochet Socks

Lounge socks in the works. Find the free pattern over at hearthookhome.com

A great unisex sock.

Taco Soup

One of my all time favorites to make for gatherings during the Fall and Winter months. The slow cooker does all the work.

What is your favorite comfort foods for gatherings?

Watercolor Thyme

This week I practiced a little on my watercolor painting and chose an herb. I took a class last year and fell in love. It is so relaxing. Granted, I have a long way to go on technique, but isn’t it always that way with a new craft?

Have you tried watercolor painting?

Crochet Boho Pillow

I am in the process of filling my bed with crochet pillows and throws and I am enjoying every minute of it.

This boho pillow was so simple to make and was a simple one row repeat. I love learning new stitches and incorporating them into functional pieces for my home. What about you?

Individual Chocolate Souffle

These come from Omaha Steaks desserts and I personally love them. Their individual chocolate souffles are perfect for fulfilling that chocolate craving. They arrive in a ceramic ramekin and will be perfect for gift giving. If I can’t help from indulging, I can always use the ramekin for numerous creations of my own.

Cottage Life - Pantone Postcard Collage

I really have so much fun recycling my old magazines by making beads and collage and I absolutely love the Pantone Postcards. I think when completing a collage it is a reflection of what I am feeling at the present moment and this expresses my desire to get in touch with nature and a more simpler life.

Dutch Babies

I picked up a set of the Pampered Chef mini cast iron skillets to make 1 portion servings a lot easier, less clean up and a lot less wasteful with food. I am really enjoying them. Here is my try at making white chocolate covered strawberries with strawberry syrup. It was super delicious. I used a little bit more butter then I should have resulting in a lesser puff up along the sides, but that is okay with me, the butter and syrup mixed together were heavenly.

A New Design in the Works

With spring and summer in the air, I don’t know about everyone else but, I am finding it difficult to sit inside and stay focused with on a project.

I popped in to share a peek at the new pattern project I am working on and write about this yarn. This is Lion Brand Yarns Mandala Watercolors | Aquarelles. I am in love with it! I love the soft feel, weigh, texture, color and just everything about it.

I hope to be back soon to share the final product!!!

Ladue Lapghan Throw

The Ladue Lapghan Throw is my first chunky throw I have designed and made for one of my families home. Simplistic with a one row repeat and hygge feel, it will be an all time favorite pattern of mine.

Made with a soft bulky yarn - Lion Brand Hometown Aspen Tweed - this has encouraged to make more with chunky yarns.

Have you crocheted with bulky yarns for your crochet throws? I highly recommend Lion Brand Hometown yarns.

Crochet Centerpiece Tray

A new design for a crochet centerpiece tray. Trays are so nice to keep all those little things on your counters organized and in one place. This was such a fun project and I completed it in less then an hour. Trays are always nice as well as a centerpiece for your dinning room table and bathroom counters. Most of mine are in the kitchen. I don’t know about everyone else but I use a lot of spices and the trays always help keep everything in one place.

Crochet Hanging Basket

I crocheted this from a pattern of one of my favorite crochet designers. I did modify it by using Darn Good Yarn Sari Silk Ribbon and made the traditional hanging loop to get that boho look I am looking for. I love the depth of the pocket on her design. I also have made a few of these in the past and Teresa’s design used less yarn and gave me the same size basket.

Teresa’s designs are very modern and I am never disappointed with her patterns. She also offers a Coop to receive a pattern a week for a very reasonable cost.

This pattern can be found below and well worth the price.

Breakfast

What is your favorite breakfast? Sometimes I just crave certain foods, and this morning is no exception. Some protein and lots of fruit for this gal.

Watercolor Painting Avocados

I took a class on watercolor painting a few months back and really enjoyed it. My Daughter gifted me with paints and brushes so I try once a month to pull them out and try and improve my skills. I have a long way to go, but I do enjoy trying my hand at it.

Crochet Potholder/Hotpad

I like to crochet functional items for my home. What is your favorite category with crochet? Every January I go through my linens and replace, mend or thrift. I love crochet chunky potholders. They are multi functional and can be used as hot pads for my casserole dishes as well.

Pantone Postcard Collage

Do you have a favorite magazine that you just must have in your home? Mine is, Real Simple Magazine. I tear out the pages that I want to save as reference and put into a notebook. The rest of the pages, well, I just can’t throw them away. I use the pages for collage work, making paper beads and paper mache. Some I even glue to cardboard food boxes and crochet an edging around the picture. Collage is my favorite recycle craft with Magazines, I did it as a kid and I do it as an adult. Fun activity for all ages. The things you can do with a pair scissors, a glue stick and some paper.

Crochet Tin Can Cozy

Recycling and repurposing are so important to me and I am sure our environment appreciates it as well.

During the winter I store up all my tin cans and recycle/repurpose in many ways. My favorite project is crocheting tin can covers. It gives me the opportunity to practice new stitches.

I hang mine on the wall to use as a drying station for my herbs during the summer. There are unlimited possibilities as to what you can do with a tin can.

Edible Flower Cookies

Hello Friends,

Of course my first posting had to be about food!

The birds are already starting to chirp and it has motivated me to start planning my patio garden. What better way to plan then to make some shortbread edible flower cookies. I can’t get enough of them.

Below is the link to the recipe I used.
